President Nursultan Nazarbayev held a meeting with the body of active functionaries of the Mangystau region. Opening the meeting, the Head of State emphasized the important historical, cultural, spiritual, ideological and geopolitical significance of the Caspian region.

Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the special contribution of the Mangystau region to the national economy in the context of the development of the oil and gas industry, the infrastructure and transport and logistics potential of the country.

"Due to the Nurly Zhol program, the region is becoming a major transport and logistics center, which unites air, road, rail, ferry and sea transport networks. Including, the international airport, the railway roads "Zhezkazgan - Beyneu", "Uzen - the State border of Turkmenistan", the highway "Atyrau - Aktau", the modern seaport of Aktau and the ferry complex of Kuryk. These projects will have a big impact on the economy of the region," - said the President of Kazakhstan.

Akim of the region Eraly Tugzhanov delivered a report on the results of social and economic development of the region for the first half-year. Since the launch of the Industrialization Map in Mangystau 42 projects have been put into operation, 392 billion tenge has been invested, more than 4 thousand new jobs have been created. Now 89 investment projects for a total amount of 418 billion tenge are being implemented in the region. Within the state programs such as "Nurly Zhol" and "Nurly Zher" more than 600 kilometers of national and local roads were built and reconstructed. Now 92% of the roads in the region are in good and satisfactory condition. Within the framework of the "Nurly Zher" program, 1 million 833 thousand square meters of housing were built. This year it is planned to hand over 916 thousand square meters. Within the framework of 5 social initiatives, with an annual growth in housing commissioning by 10%, it is planned to bring the housing provision of one inhabitant of the region to 30 square meters by 2025.

"The region has developed a long-term plan for the development of the region for 5 years until 2023. The development of the mining industry we will keep at the level of today's pace; it is about 101% annually. We will continue the active development of the manufacturing industry with an emphasis on local content. For example, companies of the region purchased 30% of goods, works and services from the outside in 2017. Totally, it is about 500 billion tenge. The first "pilot", which will allow leaving 2.5 billion tenge in the region, is connected with the production of oil pumps jointly with Russian manufacturers for the company "Ozenmunaigas". Another important area is the development of transport and logistics. If we increase the container transportations in the port of Kuryk this year from 1.5 million tons to 4 million tons, then this figure will increase 60 times by 2020," - the Akim, Eraly Tugzhanov, said in his report.

5 more speakers from the body of active functionaries of Mangystau region addressed the President as well. Entrepreneur Dmitry Klinchev expressed his gratitude to President Nursultan Nazarbayev for support in the development of business on behalf of all entrepreneurs of the region. He stressed that due to the created conditions within the framework of the "Nur Kapital" program, businessmen will receive credit resources at 1% per annum. 164 projects have already been approved for the amount of 3 billion tenge. In general, the volume of micro-crediting of SMEs this year increased 2.5 times and amounted to almost 2 billion tenge. As a result, the total loan portfolio for SMEs in Mangystau was about 5 billion tenge.

Bekbolat Tolegenuly, as a representative of the youth of Mangystau, told the Head of State about the projects implemented within the framework of the "Ruhani zhangyru" Program. So, within the framework of the "Tugan zherge tagzym" project, patrons from Mangystau built their own sports facilities (12 billion tenge), and 50 secondary schools received the necessary sports equipment. In addition, two hostels have been built for 500 places for young specialists. With the aim of planting trees and attracting children to work in the region, the project "Zhasyl mektebim, zhasyl mekenim" is implemented. Greenhouses are built near the 19 schools, 134 more will be built near all schools of the region.

"It is necessary to achieve stable economic growth. To do this, it is necessary to diversify the economy and ensure the development of the service and manufacturing sectors. For example, a special economic zone "Aktau sea port" operates on an area of 2 thousand hectares. The state allocated funds for the development of its infrastructure. Now we need to intensify its activities, create alternative jobs,” - Nursultan Nazarbayev instructed.

The President of Kazakhstan instructed the regional akimat, together with the Government, to continue work on using the transport and logistics potential of the region, developing small and medium-sized businesses, creating new jobs, and introducing renewable energy sources into production.

During the visit, the Head of State presented investment projects of the region. Among them - a factory for the production of yarn and fabrics, a gas turbine power plant in the city of Zhanaozen, a desalination plant in the village of Kuryk, a steam-gas installation at the site of MAEK KAZATOMPROM LLP, a wind power plant in the Tupkaragan district, Ekogorod Aktau and others.
