KAZAKHSTAN-SERBIAN ECONOMIC RELATIONS ARE EXPANDING

 

Today Astana is hosting the Kazakhstan-Serbian Business Forum attended by Mr. Bakhytzhan Saghintayev, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia as well as officials and business communities of the two countries. The Business Forum is taking place as a part of the official visit of Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, Prime Minister of Serbia in Kazakhstan. The Serbian Government Head’s visit to our country is a continuation of cooperation between the two countries, initiated by the Kazakhstan President's official visit to Serbia in August this year.

The Business Forum was organized by the Ministry of Investment and Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan and “KAZNEX INVEST” National Agency for Export and Investment” JSC. The event is being participated by Mr. Zhenis Kassymbek, Minister for Investment and Development of Kazakhstan, Mr. Goran Knezevic, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Serbia, Mr. Branislav Nedimović, Minister of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia.

Welcoming the Business Forum participants, in his speech, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan emphasized that "Kazakhstan highly appreciates the tendency for expansion of bilateral economic cooperation, supported by the growing interest of entrepreneurs of Serbia in mutually beneficial cooperation with Kazakhstan”.

In order to stimulate the trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Serbia, more than 200 representatives of the two countries' business entities attended the event. The Kazakhstan industrialization program for 2015-2019, the package of incentives for investors, including in the sphere of small and medium-sized businesses, and the priority sectors of the economy were presented to the Serbian side. During the plenary sessions and bilateral meetings, businessmen discussed joint projects in the fields of construction and agro-industrial complex.

Today in Kazakhstan, there are around 14 joint ventures operating with participation of the Serbian capital and represented in the areas of wholesale and retail trade, and construction of residential and non-residential buildings. "Energoprojekt-Visokogradnja" Serbian company has a successful experience in the Kazakhstan market by participating in the construction of a number of metro stations in Almaty, administrative and residential buildings, health care facilities, petroleum storage depots in several cities of Kazakhstan.

Participants of the Business Forum noted a sufficient potential available for mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, which needs to be realized to the full extent.

The volume of trade between Kazakhstan and Serbia amounted to USD 55.8 million in 2015. For 8 months of 2016, bilateral trade volume amounted to USD 13.7 million. This year, the structure of Kazakhstan's exports to the Republic of Serbia consists of chemical industry products, metals and articles, machinery, equipment, instruments and devices; while Kazakhstan’s imports therefrom is comprised of products of animal and vegetable origin, finished food products, and chemical industry products, metals and articles, wood, timber, textiles, construction materials, and others.
